How do you cook the precooked pinsa romana base from Pinsiamo?

For home ovens it's very easy: just preheat the oven to maximum temperature and put the pina in the oven for 5 minutes for a light, simple filling (such as salt, evo oil and rosemary), or for 6/7 minutes (or until the mozzarella has melted evenly) for larger fillings. Be careful to always check the pina during cooking. The base must not dry out too much but must remain fragrant and be coloured just right on the edges.

With wood-fired ovens, on the other hand, the ideal cooking time is generally reached in 5 minutes, although this is generally left to the discretion of the cook or pizza chef.

The 4 secrets about pinsa romana bases to keep in mind

  • If the pinsa romana bases are stored in the fridge, once the package is opened, they are ready to be seasoned as desired and need to be cooked only a few minutes. A white pinsa with oil and salt takes an average of 5 minutes to cook, a heavily filled pinsa takes a few minutes longer.
  • If, on the other hand, you keep the packet of pinsa romana bases in the freezer, leave them out for about 20 minutes before stuffing them, so that they defrost, or pre-bake just the base for a couple of minutes. Then season to taste and bake for the usual 5/7 minutes.
  • Cooking time varies according to the amount of topping your pinsa romana has been stuffed with, and the type of your oven, each home oven has its own settings, so be careful: check your pinsa while it is cooking, it may take a few minutes longer than the time indicated.
  • We recommend that if you do not consume all the pinsas in the package, once you open the Pinsiamo bag, close it carefully and freeze the remaining pinsa bases for better preservation of the product. Alternatively, refrigerated storage and consumption within the next 4 to 5 days is recommended.
